Classes

THE SCIENCE OF DANCE SEMINARS ... COMING SOON!

A series of work shops based around the physical fitness components of dance. Ideal for dancers, teachers or anyone wanting to improve their own fitness and understanding.

Each session will be delivered in lecture style with group discussions focusing on a specific component of fitness.

Proposed topics:

Course:
Week 1: Introduction - What is dance science/Role of the dance scientist? Components of fitness and benefits of supplementary training.
Week 2: Aerobic fitness-Importance, testing and improving
Week 3: Anaerobic fitness-Importance, testing and improving
Week 4: Muscular strength and power -Importance, testing and improving
Week 5: Muscle flexibility & Joint mobility including stretch reflex

Individual sessions:
1: Injury Prevention and management
2: Nutrition and hydration
3: Psychological tools

THESE SESSIONS AIM TO GIVE YOU THE TOOLS TO TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR OWN FITNESS.

You will need to bring pens and paper, although handouts will be provided. A notebook to keep a mind body journal would be beneficial to log your personal observations (Use this for any dance class) Be prepared to move...you will be trying out testing methods and exercises.
